Every March we hear the stories of women who changed history — pioneers, leaders, and reformers whose names were remembered because their impact was public and visible.
But most women don’t live visible lives. Most of us live faithful ones.
When we open the Bible, it can feel the same way. The names we remember are Abraham, Moses, David, and Paul. Yet woven quietly through those same pages are women mentioned only briefly, but placed at moments where God’s plan moved forward.
Scripture does not present them with long biographies or celebrated titles. Still, their presence is unmistakable. God has been including women in His story from the very beginning — named and unnamed, seen and unseen — and none of them were accidental to His purpose.
The prophet Joel wrote,
“Your sons and daughters will prophesy…” (Joel 2:28 ESV)
And in the New Testament, Peter repeats that promise as the gospel begins to spread (Acts 2:17). From the start, God made it clear that His work would not be carried by men alone, but by faithful women wherever He placed them.
This month meet three very different women:
Abigail — wise, courageous, and willing to intervene at the right moment, preventing David from making a disastrous decision.
Jael — not a warrior or a leader, just a woman in her own tent… who ended a war and delivered God’s people.
Rahab — a woman with a past no one would admire, but the one whose faith opened the door for Israel to enter the Promised Land.
None of them held positions of religious authority.
None were famous when their stories began.
Yet each stood exactly where God chose to work.
You Are Already Placed Where God Needs You
Stepping into midlife can make us feel like what we bring to the table isn’t as useful as it once was—especially compared to our younger days.
Sometimes we feel the meaningful things we could do for God are behind us. In today’s world, usefulness can seem tied to a platform, and seasons like retirement or an empty nest can make us feel quietly set aside.
And without those roles, it can feel like we’ve quietly faded into the background.
But Scripture tells a very different story. They show us that God works through women of every age, every background, every level of education—married or single, known or unknown.
Where we notice prominence, God notices faithfulness.
Where we count platforms, God counts obedience.
In Scripture—as well as today—God rarely chooses the most visible woman in the room. He chooses the person who is positioned and willing.
You may not stand on a stage, but you are placed somewhere. In a family. A friendship. A church community. A small circle of influence. A single conversation.
And Scripture shows that God works powerfully through women who simply stay faithful where they are.
You may be a listening ear for a friend walking through a hard season.
Your prayers and encouragement can still shape your adult children’s lives.
And your experience may guide someone walking a road you’ve already walked.
Long before history books recorded the deeds of women, God already had.
The Bible is not a book where women are missing.
It is a book where women are intentionally placed.
This month, we’ll watch what God does in ordinary places — a household, a tent, and a city wall. And as we do, we’ll see how faith often begins with awakening, grows into wisdom, and eventually requires courage.
You may discover God has already placed you exactly where He intends your faith to grow.
… but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30 ESV)
