Daily Guidance: Trusting God in Any Seasons

One of the hardest things I’ve had to learn—especially during the season when I was caring for my 92-year-old mother—was how not to dwell on my circumstances.

I’m naturally a “glass half full” kind of person. I like to look for the good and keep a positive tone in my home. But that became incredibly difficult when my mother moved in—the atmosphere shifted. My mother, though beloved, leaned more toward “glass half empty.” There was a lot of negativity, and it started to wear on me. It felt like no matter what I did, it wasn’t enough.

On rough days, I would whisper Romans 8:28 to myself on repeat like a survival mantra: “All things work together for good… all things work together for good…” But honestly? I couldn’t always see the good. I felt discouraged, overwhelmed, and spiritually worn out.

But here’s the thing—I needed to read forward to verse 37:

That was the shift I needed. Through Christ. It was never about doing everything right in my own strength—it was about starting with God.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33–34 to “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” (NLT)

And He meant it.
We’re not expected to carry tomorrow. Just today.

It’s like the manna God gave the Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 16). He provided exactly what they needed each morning. If they tried to stockpile it for the next day, it spoiled. The lesson? God gives us enough for today. And He’ll do it again tomorrow—just as He promises.

That includes the strength to care for others, manage a busy household, or navigate a hard season. He’ll give us clarity for the next step—but not the whole staircase. That’s faith.

So, this is how I learned to prioritize each of my days:

Seek God first.
Lean on His strength—not my own.
Trust that He’ll provide what is needed to get through this day.

Before you jump into your to-do list, pause and ask God to help you set your priorities. Invite Him to lead your day. Let Him be the One who determines what really matters. Trust His provision—it will be enough.

Journaling Prompt:
What are you holding onto today that God is asking you to release? How can you trust Him to provide exactly what you need for this day—not tomorrow?

A serene forest scene with tall trees and sunlight filtering through, featuring the inspirational quote: 'Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.' - Romans 8:37 (NLT).

“Enough for today” is such a freeing and faith-filled truth. Sometimes you have to remind yourself, right?

Angie – I love that you have found an anchored and loving relationship in Christ and that this sustains you through the hard times! As a spiritual practitioner, it delights me when I see people connected to their relationship with spirit and knowing they can lean on their higher power through all of life’s circumstances. Taking a pause and tuning in to listen is powerful!
