March and April are my favorite months in the Texas Hill Country. During this season, the landscape transforms into a stunning display of color. Wildflowers stretch across the hills and highways—bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, pink ladies and more—creating a vibrant patchwork.

With a previous year of brittle grass, leafless trees, and a garden that seemed lost to last year’s scorching heat and drought, I was convinced that most of my backyard landscape had given up for good.

But then came the spring rains. One by one, the plants began to thrive again. The Texas Sage is now full and fragrant. The Crepe Myrtles are budding. The Knock-out Roses are brighter than I ever remember. Restoration arrived right on time.

How many times have we felt like we’re stuck in a dry, lifeless season—whether from grief, burnout, disappointment, or simply the weariness that comes with midlife transitions?

But just like my garden, we are rooted in something deeper—God’s faithfulness. When we give ourselves space to rest, receive nourishment from His Word, and lean into His presence, healing and growth begin, often beneath the surface before we see any evidence.

“Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices.” – Psalm 16:9 (ESV)

Spring is a season of rejoicing, not only for the beauty we see around us, but also for the hope it represents. The same God who revives the wildflowers can revive us too.

“Let the field exult, and everything it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” – Psalm 96:12 (ESV)

“The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy.” – Psalm 65:12 (ESV)

Live It Out:

• Take a walk through your neighborhood or a nearby park and notice signs of new life. Let creation remind you of God’s ability to restore and renew.
• Journal about a time when God brought you through a dry season into joy again.
• Plant something—even a small flowerpot—as a physical reminder that growth often starts small and quiet.
