25 Encouraging Bible Promises for Tough Times

We can trust God when we need help.

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. —Psalm 62:1-2


You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast,  because they trust in You.
Isaiah 26:3


The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him. —Nahum 1:7


[Jesus said:] “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28-30


Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight. —Proverbs 3:5-6


But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. —Jeremiah 17:7

He promises his help and guidance.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. —Psalm 121


Do you not know?  Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. —Isaiah 40:28-31


It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. —Psalm 18:32


Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken. —Psalm 55:22

He helps us endure hardship.

But He [Christ] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10


The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. —Psalm 37:23-24


 I can do all this through Him who gives me strength. —Philippians 4:13

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

He will listen when we pray.

I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. You heard my plea: 
“Do not close Your ears to my cry for relief.” You came near when I called you, and You said, “Do not fear.” —Lamentations 3:55-57


For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer.

The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. —Psalm 145:18

He wants us to take our worries to Him.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. —Psalm 37:7


Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. —1 Peter 5:7


And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:7


Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
