Have you wondered if God really cares about the small things in your life? The truth is—He does. God care about every detail, even those you think are too insignificant to matter to Him.
The Missing Quarter
In 1999, the U.S. Mint released a new series of quarters, each one honoring a different state. The special edition coins were released over eight years in order the states joined the Union. A large collector board became popular for storing these coins.
Fast forward 15 years since the last coin, Hawaii, was issued. My husband’s cousin, Amy, has one of these collection boards. But over a decade, it remained incomplete because she was missing just one quarter: Hawaii.
After years of looking, Amy decided to post about it on Facebook, asking if friends could help her locate one of these quarters. With so many special edition quarters continually being released and circulated, finding a Hawaii quarter would, undoubtedly, be hard.
Amy’s husband asked her, “Is this even worth anything?” Technically, no—the whole collection still was valued at just $12.50. But to Amy, completing that collection would bring her joy and a deep sense of satisfaction.
Not long after her Facebook post, a friend offered to Amy the elusive coin. It wasn’t shiny or new, but it was the missing piece.
It wasn’t about the value—it was about the meaning.

God Cares About What Matters to You
Like Amy’s quarter, we all have little things we care about deeply. And yet, we often hesitate to bring those things to God. We may think, It’s not a big deal. God has more important things to worry about.
But imagine a child with a special wish—they don’t hold back from asking their daddy for something that matters to them. They ask boldly, because they trust their father’s love.
And your Heavenly Father loves you even more.
God made you in His image. He knows your thoughts, your heart, your fears, and your dreams. He sees you in every moment—and cares about everything that matters to you, no matter how small it seems.
Jesus gave two illustrations to show this tender care:
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you more valuable to him than they are?” -Matthew 6:26 (NLT)
“What is the price of two sparrows – one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the grown without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered! So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” -Matthew 10:29-31 (NLT)
If God sees a sparrow fall, He certainly sees you. And He sees the quarter you’ve been quietly searching for, the prayer you’ve whispered but never voiced, the longing that seems too small to matter.
Even the Small Things Are Part of God’s Plan
God doesn’t overlook the details. Nothing in your life is random or meaningless. Even the small things can serve a purpose—teaching you, growing your faith, preparing you for what’s next. He wants you to see his hand and heart in every detail of your life.
So bring it all to Him: your hopes, your needs, your joys, your frustrations. He’s a good Father who delights in hearing from you.
If you trust Him with the big things, why not trust Him with the little things too?
